The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) insists that its airstrike in Sokoto on Christmas Day was solely targeted at a terrorist logistics base belonging to the Lakurawa group. They claim the casualties reported among civilians were due to secondary explosions resulting from the primary strike, not the airstrike itself.
The DHQ emphasizes that they conducted extensive intelligence gathering to confirm the location as a terrorist hideout and meticulously planned the operation to minimize collateral damage. They further state that ground forces were deployed to prevent the terrorists' escape and assess the situation following the airstrike.
